Mark Stilborn

Process Safety Group Manager

Mark is a Chartered Member of the IChemE, holds a BSc in Chemistry and a Post Graduate Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the University of Newcastle, with over 20 years engineering experience gained within the chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.  Mark is a trained Hazard Study leader and has expertise in LOPAs and PHRs. He has been involved in numerous FEEDs, as well as relief and blowdown studies and many years design, commissioning and troubleshooting.

Mark’s experience covers the role of site responsible process engineer and PSSR duty holder, responsible for technical assurance and appointments to responsible positions. Mark has owned a site management of change system developing into an electronic system, including chairing a wide variety of MoC’s and being engineering signatory on Permits to Work. His technical project management roles have involved the management of design teams, including mechanical, electrical, control and structural design engineers.

Specific projects include inter-company LPG pipeline connecting producer, cavity and consumer; glass lined vessel replacement, adsorption tower sizing and heat exchanger troubleshooting.

Whilst technically responsible for the cavities at North Tees, Mark was involved in a number of overhauls, requiring de-inventory and flaring, troubleshooting cavity operation, capital projects to supply new feeds, optimisation of the brine system and multiple LopA assessments of top side protection measures.
